Established in 1949 by Robert E. Johnson Sr., we are now a fourth-generation family of house movers. R. E. Johnson & Son, Inc. was incorporated in 1959 when Robert E. Johnson, Jr. joined his father in the family business. They focused mainly on frame homes and moved a lot of beach cottages off the islands in Manatee and Sarasota County as they were being developed.
In 1978, Brett C. Johnson, son of Robert Jr., took the helm when his father retired. He grew up around house moving and expanded the business to include concrete block structures. This meant bigger trucks and heavier equipment. Today, Brett’s sons, Beau and Kyle, work right beside him and they have four sons between them to keep the business going for more generations.
